Robert Hale III escaped from the county jail by cutting open the ceiling in his cell, giving him access to an attic area that led to an unoccupied, under construction addition. Once there, he broke a window to make his getaway.

Im almost certain he has already been re-captured

All of you who seem to think this is a funny or fantastic story (silly jail mistakes aside) - this man is not a hero. Don't forget that he robbed a gas station with a knife. If you've ever had a knife waved in your face then you know how terrifying this situation was for the station attendant. I feel sorry for the employee that he traumatized. And now he's out - and possibly in your neighborhood - yeah, what a wonderful escape story.

Deb from Derry... read it again... "Sheetrock Ceiling".

Dave from Bedford... minimum security walls and ceilings are made of paper mache.

What sucks for Hale is he cannot stay in the states if he wants continued freedom... I doubt there is a statute of limitations for an escaped prisoner. And if recaptured he will answer to the burglary crime (and due to the escape would show the judge his guilt) and an added term for escape.
- Brian, Manchester

Amazing! I guess he quietly cut through a concrete and steel ceiling with a piece of debris he found on a construction site.

That's it no more showing reruns of Hogan's heroes on the prison TV's.
- Deb, Derry

Lets all root for the underdog prisoner-Mr Hale lll This makes Escape from Alcatraz look tame!!!!
- Bruce C Roy Sr, Rochester NH

ya john I cant imagine the minimal security prison if he is a medium level inmate
- Dave, Bedford

I have a huge whole in my wall...Ross, wondering if I can come visit tomorrow and learn how to patch....gotta love it!!! Hope they share a beer with this guy before they bring him back. Classic story, grand kids will love you when its story time Hale.

...and when we woke up, the prisoner was gone!
- Dave, Newport

Sounds like a comedy prison movie, i mean..only in the movies would you see a cell ceiling made of sheetrock right? come on..is barney fife the warden there too?
- MF, ocala florida

if he is smart he'll make his way to south america, but he will probably be stupid and get caught in a bar or some girls house in claremont
- john, bedford

A jail made of sheetrock and windows without bars or reinforced screens. And I had to laugh @ Ken... a sheetrock door? What in the world is that? I understand the economy is bad and we need to cut down on certain things and possibly cut corners but to build a door out of sheetrock?

And I will guess their security procedures are lacking quite a bit if he can grab construction tools and bring them back to his cell (with a sheetrock ceiling).

Sounds like the way this jail was built the guards might as well leave the front door open.

Shawshank Redemption. Nothing like a good escape stroy.

I'm sure he'll get caught and I believe it adds about 7 years to your sentence.

Jail officials should have known that there was a potential escape path.

As well, sheetrock will NOT prevent escape.
- BA, Derry

SHEET ROCK!!!!??? Are you KIDDING me?!!
- Chris, Laconia

Yes, call Ross and tell him to pretend he's back at the Prison and he can totally mismanage this too. Good looking out Ross. A sheetrock door? Now that's a secure facility.
