ALLENSTOWN – Police arrested two men this week for allegedly using counterfeit $20 bills at several area businesses.
Joshua Longley, 20, of 96 North Pembroke Road, Epsom and Randall A. Hamilton, 19, of 4 A St., Epsom, were arrested and charged with theft by deception, according to Allenstown Police Chief Shaun Mulholland.
Mulholland said Longley and Hamilton were arrested on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, after a joint investigation with the U.S. Secret Service and the U.S. Attorney's Office. He said federal charges could be filed upon completion of the investigation.
The suspects are due for arraignment on their current charges Dec. 15 in Hooksett District Court.
Mulholland said the pair used the fake money at businesses in Allenstown, Epsom, Concord, Pembroke and Manchester. He said the bills were often used at drive-thru restaurants.
