Couple indicted in Tilton robbery
CONCORD – The Lakes Region couple accused of staking out and robbing the manager of a Tilton restaurant this summer were indicted by a federal grand jury Tuesday.
Christopher L. Copp, 23, of Laconia and Chelsea O'Connell, 22, of Belmont were indicted on the charge of Interference with Commerce by Threats or Violence and Conspiracy. If convicted the couple face a maximum sentence of 20 years and a $25,000 fine.
They are scheduled to go to trial on January 5.
Copp is accused of robbing the manager of the Pizza Hut in Tilton on Saturday, Aug. 15 after waiting for the man to leave the building when the restaurant was closed. Authorities said Copp took the night deposit along with the cell phone and car keys of the manager. He then fled into nearby woods.
O'Connell, a former employee of the restaurant who knew the manager's routine, is accused of sending text messages to Copp to let him know where the local police where
