School has been delayed this morning after power was knocked out when a car struck a utility pole just after 4 a.m.

Fremont Police Chief Neal Janvrin said he was told at 8:30 a.m. that power was expected to remain out in the Main Street area for at least another hour.

School officials delayed the opening of school for two hours, but were discussing whether classes at Ellis School would have to be canceled if the outage lasts longer, Janvrin said.

Main Street is currently closed from Beede Hill Road to Louise Lane. The school is located in the area of the closure.

Details of the accident were not available this morning, but Janvrin said no one was injured.
