I had my share of problems with one of my children abour 17, 18 yrs ago. And I have learned way back then Never to judge the parents of a teenager!! Because they sometimes do things just to spite you and get even for your being too strict with them. My child is 35 now and is a wonderful person. They do change as they mature. So Mr and Mrs Montminy: Hold your head high and be patient and be strong, very strong and do not let this affect your relationship together. dylon will learn and change, I can almost promise you!

To our neighbors on Whitehall Terrace, we're sympathetic to all and don't blame or condone either. Just thank God nothing more serious occured. Tv's are one thing and home intrusion something alltogether different, but in reality seeing what could have taken place, all should be thankful. Best wishes to all our neighbors this Christmas season.

Gil and family:

Don't drive yourself crazy on this site. Everyone has theie opinion and some just want to throw stones. Remember, you have neighbors that care. We care for all our neighbors and feel for their experience too. Just pray that help is near and worst things didn't happen. Bill B.

I know this is not like dylon at all I have known him for so long he just started hanging out with the wrong crowd, when your a teen peer pressure is alot to deal with he's not stupid or dumb, just wrong. He knows it he prob wasn't alone in all this I just hope he can get the help he needs
- Undecided, Hooksett

Dear Montminy Family,
I am your neighbor and will not turn my back to you. As parents we can only do our best which may not be enough. Our children eventually have to learn from their mistakes. At this time, your family has to look into the future and hope that the end of this matter prevails positive.
My advice is to stop reading these comments because people think they know everything and are insensitive to the family and have a hard time looking at the big picture.
Best of luck and may you feel that our neighborhood will support you the best we can.
- Jules, Hooksett

Ms. Rogers,

I appreciate your thoughtful feedback to Mr. Montminy's comments. However, you have to realize that he is not "denigrating readers for wanting to be safe in their homes". He was simply responding to the judgmental and ignorant comments of people who have no place in judging Dylon's actions or his parenting.

I personally feel that you shouldn't judge anyone without knowing the situation in its entirety and forums such as this where anyone is allowed to respond allow for anyone to "exercise their first amendment rights" without tact, empathy or compassion for the people who are effected by these circumstances.
- Aimee, Manchester

dear jane,
you are right, drugs AND my son are to blame, counseling and rehab have been tried, still i hold on to hope things will turn around for him.
i do not pretend to know what my neighbors are going through. i dont even know how to say sorry, though that alone seems weak. just know that his actions have hurt our family and friends .
so to everyone i say i am truly sorry for him, lets hope he can make amends and look to the future and become the man i know he can be.
to my neighbors, please dont let past action blurr the fact that we do live in a great neighborhood with kind people who look out for each other and care what happens to each other.
- gilles montminy, hooksett

Hmmmmm I have to wonder if he is the one who broke into my car and stole my friend's GPS system. Mr Montminy I agree that your son made poor choices an hopefully the jail time will be spent turning his life around. This neighborhood has always been a safe and friendly place to live. Hopefully we can all get that feeling back again.
- Hummgbrd, Hooksett

BA from Derry, if you are dialing 9-1-1 and getting an answering machine, check it out, you are not getting 9-1-1. When you dial 9-1-1 you get a dispatcher, a real person, every time, each time, so, the number you have dialed is either incorrect or not in service, please check your number and dial it again, 9-1-1, this time, and get a person, a real person, each time, every time. 9-1-1, what is your emergency?
- GM, Hooksett

Mr. Montminy,

With all due respect, I find it even sadder that he stole from a friend. Although I have compassion for your family, I cannot imagine the violation that the Currans now feel by someone they trusted.

If your son wants to turn his life around, then I think he needs a drug treatment program and a lawyer. People are commenting here under their rights granted by the constitution.

Your son apparently commited crimes that he needs to take responsibility for. Frankly, considering the brutal home invasion in Mont Vernon, he's lucky no one was home when he broke in or they might have shot him. He still has a chance to right the wrongs he has commited, but to do that he needs to take responibility and make restitution not offer explanations or excuses.

I applaud you for wanting to defend your son, but we're not the enemy... drugs are and he is his own by choosing to use them. Spend your time Thankful that he is alive and has a chance at life. Spend your time getting a lawyer, looking for counseling. Don't spend them reading these comments. Dylan's behavior was outside the boundaries of our society and no one is going applaud that.

Do not denigrate readers for wanting to be safe in their homes. Unfortunately, actions speak louder than words and Dylan's alleged actions have created this. I applaud him for admitting to it. That gives me hope that he will salvage life and become a productive member of society. T
- Jane Rogers, Manchester

With all the home invasions most home owners are jumpy. I am.I would not be surprized to read an artical on a burgler being killed when breaking into someones home.
- paul, Milford

So true, teenagers have way too much free time on their hands. These are the kids that don't care about school and end up in a life of crime. Parents should educate their young ones to study and do well in school. Shouldn't buy their kids every toy or gadget there is on the market.
Parents keep an eye on your kids and find out who are their friends.
- Dorothy Gale, Manchester

though the artical as a whole is true, details are not.
my son did not befriend a neigbor to do these crimes,he WAS his friend for many years.my son is a good kid who has lost his way with bad chioces and bad friends.
we love him and have tried to help him at every turn, your uneducated comments and miss placed blame show your ignorance.they hurt and will not help him turn around his life with small minded people spitting hurtfill crap for no other reason than to see your oun name in print
grow up
- gilles montminy, hooksett

Wouldn't be nice if you needed to talk to the police without needing 911 and actually have a real person answer the phone instead of an answering machine, with a recording that says if you know your party's number press it at any time...Hello? do you not think you would direct dial them if you have it and be sure they don't give that info out at all! Feel safe? Heck No!
- Suz Vachon, Manchvegas

If you live in Manchester and it takes 45 minutes for the Police to responf to a 911 you just better arm yourself, learn the law and how to use it. Safety course too!

Your life may depend on it!
- BA, Derry

Helene in Manchester: it's true. Maybe if the police spent time on real crimes like this instead of chasing down victimless criminals all day, they could respond when people are actually in danger. Chances are, though, that if you're in danger and need a cop, they're booking some kid for owning a green plant or something and can't help you.

Buy a gun and learn how to use it.
- CDR, Lebanon

Anyone who have ever called the police while someone was breaking into their home learn real quick that it takes a long time for the police to show. Doesn't matter what town or how many cops work in town. They wait for back-up, they take their time because they are more concerned about their own safety than yours.
- Annie, Henniker

Come on people... clearly he is the victim here. Blame the parents right? 18 isnt old enough to be an adult yet right? He cant possibly be held accountable........
- Chris, Manchester

An ipod has to be the dumbest thing to steal. They are registered to their owners with apple by their own unique serial number. Same with most gaming systems these days. Theoretically, if it is stolen, report it to apple/nintendo/etc... that at least helps track it down and lead to arrest.

Then again, this is another stupid teen. Breaking into people's homes after Mont Vernon is a risky proposition nowadays.
- Chuck, Chester

I did call 911 yesterday for my own safety. the police did not show up after the second call of 911 after 45 minutes when I did ask him why he did do that he say they don't have to much police working he did tell me to go to the office to report that and I went the officer tell me he did hire 10 officers last week he can not do that any more I went to the mayor office and request to talk to mayor he was to much busy to meet me and he did not return my call so you don't understand our safety is not on the police but only God can safe us

Steal money for pot and the resulting munchies? And then you admit to that? Young and dumb.

How about the pawn shop receiving stolen goods, an 18 year old with a 50 inch TV?
Even the pawn shop clerk has to be suspicious of 50 inch TV brought in by an 18 year old!!!!
- Jack, Concord, NH

A true genius that is no doubt destined for greatness.
- Chester, Concord

Do you think that the UL will ever learn that Robbery and Burglary are two different crimes? Clearly this guy was never charged with robbery! Why cant the headline just read "police charge neighbor with 7 burglaries". I guess that would be too accurate.

*** Editor's note: The headline will be fixed. ***
