Citizens of NH wake up! We've been bamboozled again.
For alot of reasons why this is dangerous, please go to granitegrok.com (I'm one of the bloggers there) to read some very compelling reasons why this is just flat out some of the most dangerous slipperly slopes we're on not just in NH but in the entire country!
My son was confronted with explicit lesbian magazines in the bathroom when he was very young at one of his buddies homes. Thank goodness he was able to talk to me and his father about it. Another of his friends was very distraught that he had two mothers bc in both of these cases, these women left their husbands for other women with absolutely no consideration for the devastating affect on their own pre-teen sons.
This is selfless parenting? Puuleeze!
And the Gov. has the audacity to say that this is strengthening families? Voters remember this in the next election and let's take back our state from these wacko, immoral democrats!

I AM ALL IN FAVOR OF THIS BILL TO GIVE AMERICANS ALL THEIR ENTITLED RIGHTS....THESE PEOPLE PAY INTO OUR SYSTEM AND HAVE GOOD JOBS...THEY ARE ENTITLED TO THE AMERICAN WAY...MOSTS GAYS HOLD JOBS AND THEY PAY TAXES ETC LIKE ANYONE ELSE.....
I AM NOT IN FAVOR OF ALL THE FREE RIGHTS WE GIVE TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS....THAT IS ANOTHER STORY...
BUT AMERICANS WHO WORK HERE AND PAY INTO THE SYSTEM ARE ENTITLED TO THEIR AMERICAN RIGHTS JUST LIKE HETEROSEXUALS...ARE RIGHTS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT GOES ON IN OUR PERSONAL LIVES...OR ARE BEDROOMS...

Thank you Governor Lynch for showing America that NH is about fairness! Civil unions only grant the most basic rights and responsibilities. This does not redefine marriage; marriage lost its status with its divorce rate of 50%. We are not "perverts playing house". We are NH taxpayers and hard workers who contribute to your lives every day. We are your neighbors, and your lawyers, teachers, and health care providers finally able to gain some minimal protections for our relationships. And they will have no effect on you whatsoever-- there are no "subsidies" associated with this law. You can't help who you fall in love with. Besides, God created all of us too. Stop your religious proselytizing --it's time for you to move down south. New England is too progressive for you.
- Gayle Spelman, Tilton
Governor Lynch and the homosexuals lie when they say that this bill is about New Hampshire not discriminating. This is a very discriminatory bill against children brought into these warped relationships either through adoption or extreme medical intervention. Research supports nature and what we all know in our hearts: children need and deserve a mother and a father. NOT two mommies or two daddies. Heaven help us.
- Diane Roblee, Bedford
Finally equal rights. How can you be opposed to something so sensible?
- William Clark, Newmarket
I wanted to throw out an unconditional and joyous "thank you!" to the Governor and the legislature for their recognition of the rights of all people, but just reading the few comments to this article have put a damper on that joy and made me realize how much further we have to go to realize the ideal of "created equal" and "Live Free or Die" to say nothing of "judge not, lest ye be judged".

The text of HB437 starts out with the quote "In the Year of our Lord 2007". What a sad day that we bless immoral behavior and combine it with God! I hate to say it but the real reason this law passed is not because of our new liberal government. It is not because of the liberal media. The real reason why we now have civil unions is because of the apathy of the people that are against this law(myself included)! We have no one to blame but ourselves. Maybe next time the majority can truly stand up for what we believe in! When that happens--God can be proud.

I'm so glad that this has gone into law. Now, gays and lesbians can enjoy the same rights and privlegdes as married couples. For anyone else that has an opposing point of view, the sanctity of marriage was "ruined" with the advent of divorce. It is written in the Constitution that "No man or woman shall be discriminated against, for any reason."
- Jay spencer, Manchester, nh
I heard one of Mr. Lynch's gay supporters say that the one thing he was sure of was that people from New Hampshire didn't like discrimination of any kind. My dictionary defines discrimination as the ability to distinguish or differentiate. Clearly Mr. Lynch doesn't understand the basic laws of nature where homosexual behavior is not a normal behavior. In fact, I seem to remember that for thousands of years, amongst humans, that bahavior has been considered abhorrent. While I believe this is supposed to be a free country where people can do what they want as long as it doesn't break any law, (wasn't homosexuality illegal once?), I don't believe we should be rewarding and subsidizing abnormal behavior. In fact, I'd be willing to bet this will be the final democratic governor of NH for many years to come. Enjoy your term.

Interesting, the Senate rejects the seat belt law -for now- and Gov Lynch coincidentally signs the gay marriage bill into law on the same day. Are we the voters therefore expected to believe the Democratic legislature is not really stuffing all their liberal agendas down our throats - just because they have temporarily voted down the seat belt law. These liberal democrats are determined to destroy the State of NH -at least as we know it - and they are succeeding.

How about the children of these relationships; did anyone even bother to ask how kids like growing up with multiple parents/partners?
This is really an issue about selfish parents/partners dumping on kids.
Look at children's rights in general?
-No right to have a mom and a dad any more. Actually, NH offers no help to discourage divorce.
-No right to choose what schools to go to if parents are low income. Kids have to go to public schools even though private schools are much cheaper. If public schools can't teach morals, is it any wonder why this kabuki law has passed?
-No right to live. Kids are lucky to even be alive. Your mom might have chosen an abortion. Again, it's always do what you want as long as your a selfish adult.
Well, I think some day, maybe sooner than later, one will come who will stand up for the children. One who once spoke very strongly about messn' with kids will come(Mt 18:6). I do not want to watch this final confrontation. I hope it will never occur.
- Eric Damiane, Manchester
Civil union, gay (whatever that means) marriage- this is one of the most disgusting things I have ever heard of. If they can bring themselves to carry on that type of activity let them do it. Where I draw the line is when our legislators endorse that behavior. I can’t endorse these legislators.
- Pete Eldredge, Somersworth
Bravo to the governor for signing this bill! I am quickly becoming quite proud of my new state government. Kudos to all the Democrats and who worked to pass this basic civil rights legislation and to the Republicans who joined them.
To some commenters above: You aren't being forced to "live the way we tell you." This bill only extends the same responsibilities (and state rights) to those same-sex couples who choose to enter a legal union as are imposed on opposite-sex couples choosing to enter a legal union.
To Christine Fraser: Congratulations!
- Robert Blake, West Swanzey
Hey, our motto is "Live Free or Die." Why not live up to it by allowing for consenting adults join in a relationship which has legal status?
This isn't the work of a liberal government gone crazy. It is that of a Moderately Libertarian government doing what it sees as just.
- Moses Burnshaw, Lempster, NH
It is a sad day for those people who are not evolved spiritually however, for the others it couldn't been more uplifting!
- Cindy Dumont, Loudon, NH
Ask and you shall receive. NH voters put in liberal government and now we are redefining marriage.
Say what you will, but marriage has been destroyed. You don't have to make any commitment now that the state has redefined it.
There is an election coming up, vote in those who will repeal this tragic bill. The polls indicate a majority against, but the liberal Democrats know better than you the voters do when it comes to stamping your approval on something.
"Live Free or Die" should now read "Live the way we tell you & shut up about it"
- Mark Galatis, Candia
I am elated that Governor Lynch signed the Civil Union Bill and now me and my partner of 13 years will be able to finally get some LEGAL rights. We are a very committed couple and there are so many od us out there that will benefit from this bill. I want to say "Thank you Governor Lynch, for making my life that much sweeter"......I can't wait to have my civil union.
- Christine Fraser, Derry, NH
So, let's see. John Lynch is undecided about something as clear as pure air, that one should use a seat belt to save lives in auto accidents, and that the polity has a stake in this issue; he seems to see some merit in the stupid argument that there is here a question of liberty. On the other hand, he finds every reason to swiftly overthrow all traditional religious and secular legal prohibitions against perverts playing house together. Amazing, and even more amazing that so many people deem this man intelligent. In my mind, there can be no greater proof of the intellectual collapse of the GOP in this state than that such a man can trounce them so soundly.
