Plain crazy: Hostage taker released

Reader comments

Leeland Eisenberg, the man who took six hostages at Hillary Clinton's Rochester campaign headquarters less than two years ago, is out of prison already.

Eisenberg pleaded guilty to seven felonies and one misdemeanor. He got a measly three-year sentence. But he got out early for good behavior -- even though he got into a scuffle with fellow inmate Gary Dodds last year.

Eisenberg is a convicted rapist (for multiple counts) and hostage taker as well as someone who admits to needing constant medication just to remain stable. A few weeks ago, Eisenberg told Foster's Daily Democrat, "I have a lot of apprehension about getting out, particularly with the services that I'll require."

The public should be apprehensive, too. Instead of seeking to keep this man locked up as long as the law would allow, the state seemed to want him out as quickly as possible.

Eisenberg is a proven danger. His early release is a travesty. It makes one wonder who is really crazy, Eisenberg or the state officials who thought this sentence was just.

WOW! " He got out early for good behavior!" Amazing! Whatever happened to "truth in sentencing"? I guess the actual
"numbers" handed down as a sentence no longer mean anything, right?

Ed, good call.

I am not wondering "who is really crazy." It's the judiciary and "the State" who are dripping with "crazy" liberals, thanks to the dumb-downed socialist Democrat voters who are most all products of a woefully biased public "education."

Wow, only seven felonies and one misdemeanor? I guess we run ten strikes and you're out system here. Maybe next time he will actually hurt some of his hostages, and then we can really prosecute him. Has he ever served a full sentence I wonder or does he only smarten up once he's in jail?
