Herr Tom, I'd prefer we called my like minded thinkers (emphasis on thinkers) amigos. Compadre is too close in spelling to comrade.
Can you give some examples of children being deprived of health care? If so, abusive parents need to be arrested. These are the same type of parents who won't get up and make their kids a lunch for school.
Are you sure you want NH to go by the way of California? Hospitals and clinics can no longer afford treating illegals.
It isn't very hard to find this info with a little research.
Tom, stop feeling and start seeing the realities of "leadership by emotions". I don't want people to suffer. But along with importing goods that were once manufactured in the USA, we are also importing an impoverished, illiterate in their own language, people.
Wait til S-P votes on amnesty?
When Acorn knocks on your door for the Census Bureau will you still be laughing?
I don't think the Vets are getting a kick out of O's proposal of Vets paying for their health care. Yeah, I know, what were they doing getting in harm's way?
- Michael, Manchester
Tom : You said "According to you (Michael of Manchester) those who served on the 911 Commission have no validity because they don't fall in lock step with what you think".
Look in the mirror. Day after day you yourself contemptuously dismiss in the same manner those who disagree with you.
- Guy Plante, Manchester
Michael of Manchester, I'm laughing so hard that it's hard to type. I almost fell over as you totally ignored anything to do with Congresswoman Shea-Porter's record of voting. According to you the oil companies have a God-given right to oil from OUR land, not theirs ours; we should just give it away. According to you, if we negotiate drug prices with pharmaceutical companies then they will stop producing those drugs and take their ball and go home. According to you we should let all children go without health care because some brown people get that same benefit, better none than some I don't want. According to you those who served on the 911 Commission have no validity because they don't fall in lock step with what you think. According to you this country should serve the will of you and your ideological compadres (pardon the immigrant word) because America starts and stops with Michael. You do know that racism, xenophobia, and your far-right radical party has been tossed to the side of the road don't you?
- Tom, Dover-Foxcroft, Me.
Bob,
Ask her where she stands on vets having to obtain private insurance for war injuries. I am awaiting her response now.
- Missy B, Merrimack
She knows that she would lose - she can see the writing on the wall - that no Dem will get elected in 2010. They got us into a big mess now.
Remember they took over in 2006 and it has been down hill ever since.
Any democrat fan who believes otherwise is still living in Obama-Fantasyland.
For me... I can't wait to see those chuckleheads voted out!
- Marc, Weare
Tom, Tom, Tom. Your argument on behalf of CS-P lacks any analysis of the repercussions of her votes.
Childrens health ins. includes children of illegals.
Removing oil from the Gulf of Mexico? Do you mean drilling for? Cleaning up? Who spilled it? Wasn't us or we would have heard about it all over your beloved PMSNBC.
Besides, the costs would have been passed along to the consumer. Like when taxes are increased on any product. Who pays?
Price of drugs? Remember not so long ago when the Clintons introduced a program for children's vaccines. No profit in it for big pharma. Stopped producing it. Oh surprise! Vaccine shortage.
Some of those sitting on the 911 Commission should have been on the witness stand.
Burch, sometimes when these hacks vote against a bill. it is because there are enough votes to get it passed. Voting for it endangers their chances of re-election.
- Michael, Manchester
I guess it's where one's focus may be when discussing political figures. My guess is that those who speak for S-P are Dem's and those who speak against her are Rep's(at least in this foeum)..At this time I would support her(and didn't last time) 100% for her courage in working on veteran issues(I did say focus) She has done an ACE of a job and ALL know it. Now if she'd insure a change it the POW/MIA Terminology issue not ONE Vetewran in the State could speak against her...PERIOD.
Bob
- Bob Jones, Meredith
Pelosi must have told her NO when she asked her if it was ok to run for it.
- Mike, Nottingham
Well let's see Bill of Pelham. I am a New Hampshire native of more than half a century. I voted for Carol Shea-Porter. I have only been in Maine for a year and a half. Are you a native? Congresswoman Shea-Porter voted to increase funding for children's health insurance, she voted to have oil companies pay a fee to remove oil from the Gulf of Mexico on government (our) land which they had been getting for FREE. She voted to allow the government to negotiate for lower drug prices from pharmaceutical companies to aid our seniors and ill folks which the Republican party voted against and she voted to have the government implement the recommendations of the 911 Commission. This was in her first year alone. She has done a good job for America and New Hampshire and when I get back home I plan to vote for her again.
- Tom, Dover-Foxcroft, Me.
Tom of Dover Foxcroft Maine I would ask why it matters to you when you do not even live in NH? What has she voted for that hurts America? The second stimulis bill(after she voted against the first one) and the bloated budget to name just two. Now I ask you to name anything she has done that was "good" for NH? Not pandering either I mean good for the whole state.
- Bill B., Pelham
Joco In Manchester i would not call you names i would just ask you to name me 5 things she has "done a good job at". How's that for a oxymoron?
- Bill B., Pelham
John Sununu is the man for the Job! Let's send him back to Washington.
- Christian, Goffstown
I have one observation about Shea-Porter. She voted against the first stimulus package because she felt it was irresponsible to spend that kind of money. I know, because I wrote to her and received a response. New president, and presto-chango she votes in favor of the second stimulus package. Hmm. Doesn't really add up to me, unless she's wearing her rose-colored partisan glasses. Bush's idea=bad! Obama's idea=brilliant and something that has to be done! She's no different than the rest of the elected --from both parties-- sent to Washington only to become party hacks.
- Burch, Wakefield
Ahhh..............what's a day without the hopeless whines and rants of the moronic republicans in this state. The next eight years are going to be quite enjoyable!
- Frank, Manchester
In 2010 let's send Comrade Shea-Porter back to either her winter home in Cuba (as was suggested) or perhaps Venezuela where I'm sure she would be well received by Dear Leader Chavez.
- Mark, Manchester
Good! Next it would be nice if she announced she will be running for home and that she will be staying there.
- Brian, Farmington
The demorcratic money machine chose Hodes 5 years ago never thinking Carol had a chance. Although still the BEST choice that is the real reason she is not a candidate now.
Greg Barrett
- Greg Barrett, Manchester
I hate to be a bucket of ice water but one (conservative) individual added to the present US Senate would total about six conservatives in the Republican party who stand by their principals.
Now if that candidate pushed for legislation calling for the audting of all elected officials, their spouses and their offspring, then I would consider wasting my fuel and time to vote.
Otherwise I'll just stay here and prepare for what is coming.
- Michael, Manchester
Thank you Ms. Shea-Porter for representing New Hampshire. You have done a good and creditable job. Now, if those writing here who say Ms. Shea-Porter has done a bad job, would just list a few of her votes that have hurt either New Hampshire or America, I'd appreciate it. If you could also give reasons why you think that those votes have caused harm that would be even better.
- Tom, Dover-Foxcroft, Me.
Maybe CS-P isn't as dumb as we think and has finally read the writing on the wall (in glowing neon!).
Peter in Canterbury: I think your stats are a bit outdated.
- sally, candia, nh
Sometimes I think people just want to argue with each other in these comment sections while they neglect the article.
What name calling by adults. Weird.
For the record. Shea Porter has done a great job and cares about her constituents enormously. Her office is more than friendly. My personal experience. Sorry to freak everyone out with some positive vibes! Now, back to the name calling.
- joco, manchester, nh
Peter in Canterbury - the anvil Mr Fortin of Manchester speaks of won't be apparent to most American Sheeple until early to mid 2010 when it finally sinks in that you don't fix out of control government spending with more government spending at the expense of Joe Taxpayer. Also regarding the Fraud's approval ratings, according to Rasmussen, the Presidential Tracking poll for today has him at 36% strongly approve and 32% strongly disapprove. Also, if you look at the Presidential Approval Index, the Fraud's numbers are starting to falter. I went to Research 2000's website. Seems they work closely with the Daily KOS. hmmm.
- Mike, Temple
I don't know where Mr. Thompson gets his authority to determine who will be a Republican and probably did miss my choices for Congress, they were 1. Will Infantine, 2. Jim Wieczorek, and Mr. D'Amato and all I believe are Republicans, perhaps when the Party has assigned him the authority to boot me out of the party I will stay as a Registered Republican. whether he likes it or not.
- Richard L. Fortin, Manchester
A smart political move by Representative Shea-Porter. Defending two open House seats would not have been a good thing for Democrats, no matter how rapidly the state is turning Democratic. As for an anvil around anyone's neck? According to non-partisan pollster Research 2000, President Obama's approval rating in the northeastern US is running at 87% (and only in the Confederate states does his approval get below 74%). Oh, yes, do please tie her to that 'anvil'...
- Peter, Canterbury
Good news. Now send us some great news Carol and tell us you are moving to Cuba and won't be running again for anything in NH.
- Bob H, Londonderry
Dittoes, Dave; the fact that Richard Fortin would vote for a Democrat over the men who didn't actively support Jeb Bradley tells you all you need, not only about how Republican Fortin is but about how Republican Bradley is.
But should we be assuming Gregg will give up the seat in 2010, based only on the fact that he said he would? As Howie Carr often says about Democratic hacks: Where else is he going to go?
- Spike, Brentwood NH
Carol Shea Porter has been one of the most liberal and spend happy partisans in Congress. I can't wait to cast a vote against her in 2010 and hope that it works to bring back some sanity to New Hampshire's First Congressional District.
- Ryan Feltner, Manchester
I am hoping someone who is not a career politician will run. Shea-Porter and Hodes have done nothing to help the state. It is time we elect someone from the people they are suppose to represent.
- Steve, Pembroke
Fortin, seriously, I don't know how you consider yourself a Republican if you would consider voting for Shea-Porter over Guinta. I'm beginning to think that if you could, you would join the political party of "Jeb Bradley" if it were an option for you. For the sake of the Republican party, please stop calling yourself a Republican-- we'd much rather not have you...
- Dave Thompson, Manchester, New Hampshire
Oh Darn we will miss out on a nasty primary campaign with Hodes vs Shea Porter. Of course Carol will have to answer for her list of broken promises and her big irresponsible spending ways in Nov 2010.
- Chris, Merrimack
All I can say is YIPPEE!!!! Now if we get her sorry self out of Congress we will have accomplished something!!
- Bill B., Pelham
Mr. Fortin is a pox upon the Republican party. He has great disdain for Democrats like Obama and Shea-Porter, but instead of helping the party he chooses to further the era of interparty bantering that has gotten us where we are today...the gutter.
Rep. Shea-Porter will have to answer for many foolhardy decisions come November 2010. The gross mismanagement of the federal budget alone should be enough for any capable (R) to come out on top.
- Stuart Dunmeyer, Manchester
Who cares? As far as the 2010 US Senate race is concerned, there's John E. Sununu, then there's not exactly...
- Curt, Ossipee
Whatever she runs for this time she will lose. Barack Hussein Obama will be an anville around her neck just like Bush was to Jeb Bradley. I just hope that the back stabber Guinta or John Stephen do not get the nomination then I would have to hold my nose and vote for her. I would love to pay these two back for sitting on their hands and being as big a cause for Jeb's defeat as Bush was.
- Richard L. Fortin, Manchester
