Republican 2nd District U.S. House candidate Bob Giuda says he was involved in a near head-on automobile accident on Thursday night on Route 25.

Giuda told UnionLeader.com he suffered bruises and has “had better days,” but is resting comfortably at home this afternoon.

Giuda said he believed that both vehicles in the crash were totaled. He said he and the other driver were treated at a local hospital before being released, and, he said, he and the other driver were alone in their respective vehicles.

Rumney police responded but a spokesman for the department said the accident report will not be available until Saturday.

Giuda is among three Republicans either running for or eyeing the House seat being vacated by Democratic U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes, who is a candidate for the U.S. Senate seat that will be open at the end of next year.

He said he was returning home from Concord, where he met with a group of conservatives. He said he was about 12 miles from his home in Warren when the crash occurred at about 10 p.m.

Giuda declined to discuss details of the crash, referring questions to police.

“I’m sure there will be questions, but there were no drugs or alcohol involved,” Giuda said.

He said he expects to be back on the campaign trail in about a week.
