This should be a huge boon to college students. I've heard great (and not-so-great) things about ZipCar for years, and a college campus like UNH is certainly one of the better locations for their service.

And to think when I was in college, I had to take a bus, in the rain, both ways and then walk a half-mile uphill (both ways, in the snow!) to the supermarket with my folding granny-cart. The bus driver would not let me on the bus when the sleet was pouring down on my way home because I had my cart full of groceries. Ahh, Boston... But that cost $1.60 back in those days, plus at least three hours. For a week's groceries.

Hey kids- do yourselves a huge favor and plan your meals for a couple weeks. Then pool the Zipcar with a couple friends for a supermarket trip. That $8./hr is a small price to pay when shared, especially if you'll be eating better and learning to plan your meals.

I travel countrywide and see the ZIP CAR everywhere. Great idea and UNH students will benefit from it

As a former UNH student I think this is an awsome idea, there are so many private vehicles taking up parking spots for people that only need a car to go home every once in a while. This will free up space for those students that actually need a private car on campus Ex. a job off campus. I think this will also reduce the traffic around town, as well as pollution from cars that don't need to be campus. I always felt that there was to much traffic on campus. Way to go UHC for trying to stay an Socially and Economically minded University.

This is a good idea even if you have a car. I have friends in the Boston area who own small cars and rent a Zipcar for those few hours a month that they actually need a wagon or truck.

This would be a nifty program in Manchester especially with gas prices that are expected to go up anytime soon.

18-20 year old UNH students, fac and staff will be able to join ZipCar and use UNH-based Zipcars (only). That is part of the negotiated contract.

I think one must be 21 to use this service, so only third year and faculty might be able to make use of it
We shall see.

Some of Manchester's area colleges may want to sign up with Zipcar.

It's about time there was a sensible transportation mode if one does not require an automobile full time, 24/7. This is an idea who's time has arrived!
no pun intended! :>)
