The Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications is seeking nominations for its annual First Amendment Award, which recognizes New Hampshire residents or organizations who have worked to protect and promote free speech and free press as guaranteed in the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Last year’s honoree was Gilles Bissonnette, ACLU-NH’s legal director. Bissonnette was nominated for his work to improve the public’s access to information needed to hold government accountable. That included a successful legal effort to reverse a 27-year-old precedent from 1993 that shielded the personnel files of government employees, including law enforcement, from public view.
