KEENE — Caleb Johnson, 2014 champion of “American Idol,” is headed to New Hampshire to deliver the big sounds of theatrical music icon Meat Loaf.
Johnson has been touring with The Neverland Express, which features alumni from Meat Loaf’s rotating backing band.
Celebrating Meat Loaf makes a Never Stop Rockin’ Tour stop at the Colonial Theatre, 95 Main St., at 7:30 p.m. today.
The concert will feature the anthems and theatrical flair that marked the seminal artist’s career, including “Bat Out of Hell,” “You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)” and “Paradise by the Dashboard Light.”
Meat Loaf, who also left his mark in movies, including a role in the cult-camp musical “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” paired a rock sensibility with operatic flair and mixed it all together with a dramatic delivery.
He died in January 2022 at the age of 74.
Celebrating Meat Loaf is helmed by his record producer, music director and guitarist Paul Crook, who has long said the band got Meat Loaf’s blessing when he became unable to tour.
The ensemble also includes drummer John Miceli, guitarist Randy Flowers and female lead vocalist Lyssa Lynne.
Tickets to the Keene show range from $39 to $59.
